House rules

These rules are the terms of use for Smalltalk Ninja. You accept them when you create an account, and an account can be disabled for breaking them. Version 2026-10-19, in effect since 19 October 2026.

Be decent to each other

• Start with a real greeting. Write something the other person can answer. A bare "hi" sent to twenty people does not count.
• Let them reply. If someone does not reply, accept it. You can wait for replies from 5 people at once. After that, you cannot start a new conversation until one of them writes back. Conversations you are already in are not affected. Messages are also spaced a few seconds apart, so nobody can be flooded. If the person you write to is online and already has 6 unread conversations from new people, yours waits in line until they have read one.
• Take no for an answer the first time. If someone stops replying, closes the conversation or asks you to stop, leave them alone.
• Ask before pictures. Never send explicit or shocking images that nobody asked for. Pictures arrive blurred for a reason, and opening one is not consent to more.
• Do not ask for real identities. Do not push for real names, towns, workplaces, social media accounts or phone numbers, and think twice before giving your own. This site exists so that people can stay anonymous.
• What is said in a chat stays in it. Do not republish someone's messages or pictures anywhere, here or on another site.
• You are one person, however many personas you have. Switching persona to get around a block, or to restart a conversation someone ended, is harassment, and we treat it that way.
• Only people use this site. An account belongs to one person, and that person writes and sends its messages. Do not let an AI agent, a bot or a script log in, start conversations or reply for you. Do not use the site to let AI agents or other programs talk to each other. You may use a suggestion from the assist or from anywhere else if you read it and send it yourself.
• Be civil. Do not use slurs, hate or threats, do not gang up on anyone, and do not send sexual or abusive messages to someone who did not ask for them.
• If you think you are talking to a minor, stop and report it. This site is for people aged 18 and over, but a stated age proves nothing. Do not wait to be sure. "They said they were older" is not a defence, here or anywhere else.
• No spam. Do not advertise, drop links, recruit, send the same opener to lots of people, or try to move people to another platform.

Never allowed

Illegal activity and illegal content are prohibited in messages, pictures, nicknames and profile text. Neither anonymity nor "it was a joke" is a defence.

• Anything sexual involving a minor, in any form (photographic, drawn, written or implied), and any sexual approach to someone under 18. There is no warning and no second chance for this.
• Being here at all if you are under 18, or helping someone under 18 get an account. Any account found to belong to a minor is deleted at once, with no appeal.
• Naming yourself as a child, or as someone who wants one. Nicknames that state an age under 18, present their owner as a child, or use the shorthand people use for a sexual interest in children are refused when they are chosen, in any language and however they are spelled.
• Intimate images of anyone who did not agree to be shown, including so-called revenge porn, hidden-camera material, and anything you did not have permission to share.
• Threats, violence, and incitement, such as threatening harm, encouraging suicide or self-harm, terrorism, or organising violence against anyone.
• Doxxing, which means publishing or trading someone's real identity, address, workplace, or other private details, here or elsewhere.
• Trade in illegal goods and services, such as drugs, weapons, stolen data or accounts, counterfeits, forged documents, sexual services, or human trafficking of any kind.
• Fraud and malware, such as scams, phishing, blackmail or sextortion, malicious links, and attempts to break into this site or anyone's account.
• Content you have no right to publish, including material that infringes someone else's copyright.

Nobody here is staff unless they carry the badge

Anyone can claim to be from support, so staff are marked in a way nobody else can copy:

• Admins carry a badge beside their name in the online list, at the top of a conversation and above every message they send. It comes from the account's role on the server. Nobody can put it on a profile, and there is no setting for it.
• Nobody else can use a staff-like name. Nicknames suggesting admin, moderator, support or an official account are refused when they are chosen, however they are spelled.
• An admin will never ask you for an access code. Not to check who you are, and not to fix a problem. Anyone who asks is trying to steal your account, with or without a badge.

When someone breaks a rule

• Block ends the conversation for you at once, and that person can no longer message you. You can also block only their pictures and keep talking.
• Report sends the conversation to an admin for review. You pick what is wrong from a short list, and you can add more if you want. Only admins see reports.
• Report a picture hides it from everyone as soon as you report it, and only an admin can put it back or delete it.
• We tell you what we decided. A person upholds or rejects every report, and you see the decision in your notifications. We do not tell you what happened to the other account.
• If we act on something of yours, we tell you why. We tell you what we did and why, in the admin's own words, but never who complained.
• Report as spam counts a strike against the sender's account, not their persona, so switching persona does not clear it. Strikes from 3 separate accounts within 7 days disable the account automatically. Each reporting account counts only once, so one person cannot disable an account alone.
• A new nickname does not clear anything either. Every name a persona has used stays listed on its profile, where anyone it chats with can see it. Changing it also locks the nickname for 24 hours.
• Admins can disable an account outright for anything on the prohibited list, without waiting for strikes to accumulate.
• A disabled account can do exactly one thing: write an appeal. An admin reads it and either reinstates the account or keeps it disabled. Accounts that are not reinstated are deleted after 90 days.

Software and AI

We use software in these places:

• Reports are sorted by a language model running on our own hardware. When you report someone, it reads that conversation, estimates how urgent it is, and writes a short summary so an admin knows what to read first. It decides nothing. Every report is read and acted on by a person.
• A new nickname is checked against a list of reserved words, and then by the same model, which answers two questions: does the name pose as staff, and does it present a child or an interest in one? Only the name is sent. This is the only decision a model makes on its own on this site, and the only possible result is that you choose a different name. It cannot report you. If it rejects your name by mistake, choose another. Nothing has happened to your account, so there is nothing to appeal.
• A member can ask for help with their own conversation. Paid members can turn on an assist that reads the screen they are looking at and suggests what to talk about next. It runs on our own hardware, keeps nothing, and is off until somebody turns it on for one conversation. It reads both sides of the conversation, including your messages, and you are not told when it is used. The privacy notice explains why, and what it can and cannot see.
• Nobody watches what you say. Nobody reads along. A conversation is only read if someone reports it, or by the AI if one of you asks for translation or help. Messages never leave this server.

Reports are kept longer than messages

A report is the only thing that is kept beyond the usual deletion period.

• Reporting takes a copy. When you report, the last part of the conversation (or the picture, if you reported a picture) is copied to an area only admins can reach.
• We need the copy. Conversations are deleted on schedule, even if a complaint about them is still open, and an admin cannot decide on something they can no longer see.
• Only reported content is copied. Nothing is copied there unless someone files a report, so the area only holds material that somebody objected to.
• The copy has its own deletion period. A copy is deleted a set time after the report is decided. The privacy notice gives the period. A report that has not been decided yet is never deleted.
• Deleting your account deletes all of it, including every report by you or about you, and every copy taken for them.

Rooms with several people

A group is a room, separate from your conversations, that you join by invitation. Rooms have the same rules, deletion period and reporting as conversations. They differ in these ways:

• Joining shows your persona to everyone in the room. This includes current and future members, and anybody you have blocked or who has blocked you. A block still stops you messaging each other and hides their messages from you in the room, but you can still see each other in a room you are both in.
• Being in a room takes you off the roster. While you have a room open, that persona is not listed as online, so strangers cannot start conversations with it. You are in one place at a time, chosen with the selector at the top of the chat. People who already know your name can still find and message you.
• A room holds a fixed number of pictures, and the oldest are removed. Whoever runs a room sets how many pictures it holds. When a new picture would exceed that number, the oldest picture from the member with the most pictures is removed, so a picture in a busy room may last only days. Nobody is refused because a room is full, and no picture is kept longer than the usual period. The number is on the invitation you accepted.
• A room has a lifetime of its own. Your messages are kept for the same period everywhere on this site (see the privacy notice), and rooms do not change that. Separately, a room with nothing said in it for 240 days is deleted, and everyone in it is warned at 180 days. One message from anybody resets the count.
• Reporting inside a room copies the recent messages. This is the same copy a reported conversation gets, but in a room it includes everyone who was talking, including people who are not part of your complaint. An admin needs that context to decide on the report, and only admins can see the copy.
• Whoever runs a room moderates it. They can stop somebody posting for a while, remove them, bar them, and hide a message from the room. They cannot delete anybody's messages. A hidden message still exists, so an admin can still judge a complaint about how the room is run. If the room itself is the problem, report it from the room and an admin will read it.

If someone is in danger

We hold no names, email addresses or IP addresses, so we cannot find anyone or call for help on your behalf. If someone appears to be in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. Report it here as well, so we can act on the account.

Liability

We run the site as well as we can and moderate it by hand. This is what that means for you:

• The service is provided as is. It can be slow, unavailable or closed down, and a message can fail to send or arrive. Conversations are deleted on schedule and cannot be restored, so do not keep anything here that you would mind losing.
• Members are responsible for what they write. We do not monitor conversations, so we have not checked or approved what somebody sends you. We act on reports, but we do not vouch for anyone.
• Everyone here is a stranger, and nothing about them is verified. Age, gender, location and intentions are all self-declared, by design. What you choose to share, believe or act on is your own decision, and meeting someone from here is at your own risk.
• Nothing here is for sale. VIP and VIP+ are not sold. A tier is granted with a code from an admin, and no money changes hands. What a tier includes can change, and because nothing was paid, there is nothing to refund.
• Limit of liability. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, lost business, lost data or wasted time, or for what another member says or does to you. Our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which for free use of the site is nothing.
• We are not a safety service, and reporting to us is not reporting to the police. If you feel threatened, believe a crime has been committed, or think anyone is in danger, contact the police. They can act on a person; we can only act on an account. A person answers every report, as described above, but only after the event. Neither handling a report, nor how quickly we handle it, nor failing to handle it, makes us liable for what somebody else does to you. Nothing on this site promises that we are watching or that we can keep you safe.
• Rights you keep. None of this limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, such as for our own intent or gross negligence, or any protection that the law where you live gives you and that cannot be waived. Where those apply, they come first, and a term that tried to exclude them would be void and take the rest of this section with it.
• Complaints and disputes. If you have a complaint, write to the address on the contact page and allow 30 days for an answer. If that does not resolve it, we will both try mediation or arbitration in Denmark before either of us starts a court case. As a consumer you can also take it to the Danish consumer complaint board instead, and nothing here obliges you to arbitrate a dispute you have not yet had.
• Governing law and jurisdiction. The site is run from Denmark, and these rules are governed by Danish law. Claims against us are brought in Denmark. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not take away the mandatory protections of the law where you live, and you can bring a claim either there or in Denmark. We will only bring a claim against you where you live.
