Smalltalk Ninja is an anonymous chat site where you choose who you talk to.
Can I choose who I talk to?
Yes. Smalltalk Ninja shows you who's online, and you start a conversation with the person you pick. There's no random matching and no next button.
Can I talk to more than one person at once?
Yes. Someone can invite you into their private group, and joining is free. Groups are invitation only, and there's no public list of them.
Do I need an email address or a phone number?
No. We don't ask for your name, email, phone number or a password. Your account is a secret access code, so nobody can reset it for you if you lose it.
Are my conversations still there after I close the tab?
Yes. Log in again with your access code and they're still there.
Can I put a second lock on my account?
Yes, if you want to. You add it to your authenticator app. We don't use SMS or phone numbers.
Is there video?
No. It's text only, so you don't need a camera or a microphone, and there's nothing to install.
Can we play a game while we talk?
Yes. You can play a board game next to the conversation: chess, draughts, reversi, nine men's morris, four in a row, dots and boxes, oware, makruk, hnefatafl, adugo, dara, fanorona or bagh-chal. They're free, and you take your turn when you like, so you don't both have to be online. The same thirteen games also have their own section, where two people play by sharing a link, without an account. And there are six daily puzzles you can play on your own.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. You get the whole site on your phone, in the browser you already have. Add it to your home screen and it opens like an app. There's nothing to download from an app store.
Does anyone read my messages?
Nobody monitors them. An admin only sees a conversation if somebody reports it. Our AI only reads a conversation when it's reported, or when someone in it asks for translation or help, and it runs on our own hardware, not at another company.
Are my messages encrypted?
Yes. We store your messages and pictures encrypted, and every picture has its own key. Your connection to the site is encrypted too. It isn't end-to-end encryption, because the site has to read a message to show it to you or translate it.
Is it free?
Yes. You don't pay anything or enter a card, there are no ads, and there's no trial that runs out.
Will I get flooded with messages?
No. If an account keeps starting conversations that nobody answers, we limit how many people it can write to. So one person can't message everybody.
